THERMOSTAT REPAIR AND INSTALLATION FOR GREATER PORTLAND

Save Money and Energy with a Thermostat Upgrade

The thermostat acts as the control system for your heating and air conditioning by regulating the temperature. When used strategically, a thermostat can help you save a lot of money and energy.

      Different Types of Thermostats

      • Manual, mechanical thermostats use a bi-metallic strip to sense and respond to temperature changes. They are the cheapest and simplest option.
      • Manual, electronic thermostats use electronics to detect the temperature and maintain a desired setpoint.
      • Programmable thermostats automatically adjust the temperature based on settings you input. There are many options available, including electromechanical, digital, hybrid, occupancy and light-sensing. Some allow individual settings for each day (7-day programming), while others allow 5-1-1, 5-2, or 1-week programming where there’s just one program for the entire week.
      • Smart thermostats are hooked up to Wi-Fi and can be monitored and operated from a smart device anywhere in the world. They “learn” from your patterns and preferences to automate a comfortable and energy-efficient heating and cooling schedule.

Smart and programmable thermostats can be adjusted manually like any other thermostat, but they offer additional comfort and convenience by returning temperatures to your desired setpoint before you wake up or return home.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of different thermostat options to choose from and it can get overwhelming. To make things more complicated, some models may not be compatible with your HVAC system. To help you select the right thermostat for your needs and desires, contact 72 Degrees.

      Thermostat Maintenance, Repair, and Installation

Our background-checked, drug-tested, and NATE-certified technicians provide same-day thermostat installation, repair, and maintenance. We will explain in simple terms how to use your thermostat, including how to program settings, change batteries, and use temperature/humidity controls.

By upgrading your manual thermostat to a programmable or smart thermostat, you could save around $180, assuming you properly set the thermostat (Energy Star).

In addition to proper thermostat installation — conveniently located, away from heat sources and air currents, etc. — you want to keep it in good working condition with regular maintenance. Thermostat maintenance should be included with your regular furnace and air conditioning tune-ups, but double-check to be sure.
